After a late start, Mohun Bagan dominated the proceedings against the I-League promoted team and led 2-0 at halftime with goals from Jason Cummings (9th) and Dimitri Petratos (34th).
After the changeover, Luca Majsen (53rd) pulled one back from a poor back pass from Glenn Martins.

The second match of the weekend double-header is expected to see good competition as I-League champions Punjab will look to produce something extraordinary in their first match against the defending champions and one of the most expensive teams of the tournament.
The stakes are high for Mohun Bagan, who picked up some key Indian players in their pre-season shopping to secure a star-studded squad. This was done with the hope of becoming the first team to retain the crown.
