New Delhi, September 26 (Trending News Fox) Multiple Grand Slam winner Leander Paes on Tuesday emerged as the first Asian man to be nominated for the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the player category.
Pace, 50, was one of six nominees announced for the Class of 2024. In the player category, she will compete against Cara Black, Ana Ivanovic, Carlos Moya, Daniel Nestor and Flavia Pennetta.
Chinese player Li Na, who won women’s singles titles at the Australian Open and French Open, became the first Asian player to be nominated to the ITHF in 2019.
India’s Paes was one of six player nominees announced Tuesday for the Class of 2024, along with returning nominees Cara Black, Ana Ivanovic, Carlos Moyá, Daniel Nestor and Flavia Pennetta.
Rand reached the Slam and No. 1 doubles rankings in both men’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Li Na, the Chinese woman who won two Grand Slam singles titles, became the first Asian player at the Newport, Rhode Island-based shrine when she was inducted in 2019.
“After three decades of passion for our game and playing for more than 1.3 billion Indians at the Olympics and Davis Cup, I am thrilled that my hard work has been recognised,” Paes said.
The 2024 ballot also includes two candidates in the contributor category: Vijay Amritraj and journalist Richard Evans.
Paes won career Grand Slams in both men’s doubles and mixed doubles and reached the No. 1 doubles ranking. His eight men’s doubles major championships – earned with four different partners – were spread out as follows: three each at the French Open and US Open, and one each at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
Her mixed doubles Slam trophies came with a variety of partners, including Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis and Black.
Black, Ivanovic, Moya, Nestor and Panetta all fell short of the required 75% of votes from the official voting group in the previous poll – which includes media, historians, Hall of Famers and industry experts – and are awarded bonus percentage points.
