It is believed that Goddess Chamunda appeared at this time to slay the demons, Chanda and Munda. During this puja, people offer 108 lotuses to the goddess along with other items like lamps, incense, fruits, and sweets.

- Lotus is the favourite flower of Lakshmi as it symbolizes beauty and abundance. Marigold is also associated with Lakshmi as it attracts positive energy and wealth. Rose is offered to express love and gratitude. Tulsi leaves are sacred to Lakshmi as they represent purity and devotion.
