• The Curse and The Transformation: Upon realizing the deception, a heartbroken Vrinda cursed Lord Vishnu to turn into a stone (which became the Shaligram). She then immolated herself. As a sign of respect for her ultimate devotion, Vishnu blessed her to be born as the sacred Tulsi plant.
